MEMORY LANE

During the Covid lock downs '20/'21 and '21/'22, Margôt & Loek tried to get rid of the feeling of isolation and boredom with a musical dive into their past.  As a duo, they recorded in their studio favorite songs in new arrangements and released  every Sunday on YouTube one song, for a total of 22 weeks. It was a way to keep in touch with friends, acquaintances and the rest of humanity. The reactions were invariably positive. So, after the lock downs they continued to work on their MEMORY LANE, which was getting longer and longer and soon they started performing as a duo named ‘Mal-o-Maniacs’.  They both have a long track record in music. Loek has been a formative member of several bands since the 1960s (including Blues Corporation, Larry Rose Band, Blue Lou & the Headhunters), toured in the U.S. with the American band Tsunami and worked as a sideman for various artists from the U.S. (including Dr. John, Larry Garner, Big Jay Mc Neely, Henry Gray). He has been involved as a producer in many different projects. Margôt was also active in the music scene of the 70's and was later, together with Loek part of the group Palio-Paréa (Greek Blues repertoire), which they co-founded. The group existed for 16 years, worked internationally and released 6 CD’s with partly original material.   With MEMORY LANE  they go back to their original roots:  blues / pop / country / rock  i.o.w. Americana... it's all in their musical DNA. In addition to `originals‘  (songs by Loek Schrievers), the repertoire includes a.o. works by Willy Deville, Van Morrison, Natalie Merchant, Bob Dylan, JJ Cale, Ray LaMontagne, which are given a new life with surprising arrangements.
